Old industrial and craft equipment has always been fascinating to me and many of it makes great motives for black and white photography. My hometown (Hagen-Haspe) has one of the finest distilleries for Doppelwachholder, a special kind of Gin. The Eversbusch distillery was founded in 1780 and has been continuously working at the same place and still with a lot of original equipment since 1817.
In 2016 I got the chance to take photos in the production rooms of the distillery. It was a sunny day and no artificial lighting was used, only the light from the windows. Whether it comes to the marvelous steam engine, the distillator, or the shiny tubes, they are all proofs of high skilled craftsmen and great themes.
All photos in the Gallery Distillery were made with the Plaubel PL69 on Ilford FP 4 and developed in Rodinal. Some of the negatives were hard to print due to the direct light from the windows and needed extensive dodging and burning.
